The Health Benefit Trust of Alberta (HBTA) is a diverse, multi-employer plan. The participating employers are responsible for the HBTA and its management. The HBTA operates on a not-for-profit basis and is governed by a Policy Council whose members consist of beneficiaries. The HBTA Policy Council is committed to being fiscally responsible as well as operating in the best interest of and being accountable to the participating employers & their employees.

The HBTA was designed for and continues to evolve to meet the benefit plan needs of the participating health care employers by providing a comprehensive and competitive employee benefit program.
